Dear Neighbor,

Today, Beacon celebrates its sixth anniversary.

Although I had been doing the work of the Beacon long before I officially opened, it was no accident that I selected February 14,2006 to make the formal announcement.  Valentine's Day is a day to show your loved ones how much you care about them and to make lasting commitments from the heart.  This symbolic day presented an opportunity to express my love for my neighbors near and far.

It has been said that the gift is to the giver and in this case, that is certainly and most sincerely true.   This simple gift has profoundly impacted my life in ways that can never be measured.  Through helping others we help ourselves and I feel so blessed that through the work of the Beacon we can continue to serve in ways that are meaningful to those in need, which in turn brings me great joy every day of my life.

I thank our staff, funders, volunteers and residents for making it all possible.
