November 2011
THIS MONTH FROM THE BEACON OF HOPE

Dear Neighbor,

What an exhilarating month October has been here at the Beacon of Hope!  From exciting events to launching a new website, we have much to share with you.  Please enjoy some of our highlights below.

In order to continue the work that we do in revitalizing New Orleans neighborhoods, Beacon relies on donations from supporters like you.  What better way to raise money and bring neighbors together than hosting a fun and spooky event?  Beacon's third Moonlight Madness Bike Ride was a huge success this month with over 100 participants!  The group was quite a sight with participants of all ages, some dressed to impress in their Halloween costumes, and even a couple on a tandem bike.  Check out our photos courtesy of photographer Michael Maples.

Speaking of successful events, October's Harrison Avenue Marketplace was a smash. The Halloween-themed market featured a costume runway show sponsored by Carl Mack Presents and a kids' costume contest! See pictures from the October market and be sure to attend November's market next Wednesday, November 9th from 5:00 to 8:30 at 801 Harrison Ave (parking lot of Lakeview Grocery).

You can read more about our events and happenings around town on the blog on our NEW website.  That's right, we have launched a new site with even more resources including: maps of property auctions and code lien foreclosures, video tutorials on conducting online property research, volunteer information, and a blog of the newest resources we come across.  Please take a moment to navigate the new site and let us know what you think.

Until next month, thank you for your continued support in helping revitalize New Orleans!

Best,

Tina Marquardt
