After 15 years in the fashion industry, Donna opened Hanson Galleries in 1977 in Houston, TX. With her husband, Art, they grew it into a multi-media crafts store featuring mainly American artists. They have two beautiful new locations which have been featured in many publications.
Several awards have been given to them by Niche Magazine including number two and three ranking craft retailer in the nation. The second Martin Rischty award was given to Donna for outstanding volunteer service to the American craft community.
Donna has been involved in organizing and presenting Table Topics and other seminars for over 20 years in cities throughout the country. These have been presented at Buyers' Market of American Craft Shows, American Craft Council Shows, George Little Shows and now ACRE.
Donna is a founding member and board member of all three craft retailers' organizations that have existed over her 30 years of owning Hanson Galleries. She has also mentored many emerging artists and is always willing to share her knowledge with the craft community. She is also a frequent speaker to Houston area guild groups.
