TelephoneCRAFT Artist Members Phone Chat

Is a periodic phone get-together like this of interest to you?
We would like to invite all CRAFT artist members to join us for a phone get-together on Sunday, November 13.

Many of us are busy working in our studios or at shows (not to mention having a life outside the studio) and never have a chance to just pause and talk with fellow artists. Sure, there are discussion groups where specific topics can be brought up and addressed asynchronously. But how about random conversation? Consider this a chance to meet with your friends at a virtual coffeehouse.

This is your opportunity to talk about the business of being an artist today, ask questions of your colleagues, compare experiences, ask for or provide solutions, or just let the conversation flow (how 'bout them Yankees!).

Here's an agenda for our first chat:
  • Is a periodic phone get-together like this of interest to you?
  • How often and when should we have them?
  • Anything else you want to talk about.

So please join us:

CRAFT Board Member & Secretary

Carolina Creations

Janet Francoeur received a BA in drawing and print-making from Siena Heights University, Adrian, MI. She pursued a career in commercial art and sold her fine art at shows throughout the state. In 1983 she moved to Aspen, Colorado with her husband Michael and worked in the art department of the Aspen Times and as an executive assistant at the Aspen Arts Council.

The Francoeurs relocated in 1990 to New Bern, in eastern North Carolina. There she pursued her fine art career and later that year opened her gallery, Carolina Creations.  Janet is a painter and tilemaker and in addition to her work the gallery carries the work of over 300 artists from the US and Canada.

Janet is the recipient of the NC Emerging Artists Grant from the North Carolina Arts Council as well as the Entrepreneur of the year from the New Bern Chamber of Commerce. She has won many awards and her work hangs in collections all over the world. Their gallery has been voted the best place to shop for art, and the best gift shop in New Bern for the past 5 years and was chosen as one of the Top 100 craft galleries in the US by Niche Magazine in 2005 and in 2006 chosen as one of the top 25 American craft galleries in the country by Niche Magazine.

In addition to CRAFT Janet is also on the Board of Directors for the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce and the Swiss Bear Downtown Redevelopment Corporation.  The Francoeurs are very involved in historic preservation in their community and rescued their current building from the wrecking ball in 2002 and after a year of restoration they moved into it in 2003.
