This year, American Craft Week is sponsoring both essay and photo contests. These contest are a benefit to you also. The winner picks their favorite craft retailer from the participants list and American Craft Week will purchase the gift certificate prize from that retailer, so encourage your customers to enter! There are two topics to choose from in the Essay Contest and each topic has a $250 gift certificate prize. Contestants can enter one or both topics. The topics are Cultural roots of American craft and Importance of craft in contemporary American society. To see a full description and the contest rules, visit the Essay Contest page of the ACW website.

Phoito ContestThe theme for the photo contest is Show American crafts at home or on vacation. Special Offers for CRAFT Members at NYIGF - How to Redeem

We had previously sent you a communication that gave you some incorrect information on how to redeem two special offers for CRAFT Members at NYIGF. Please accept the apologies of NYIGF for any inconvenience this caused. Use the following instructions to redeem these offers.

  • Free NYIGF badge : Register for free ($50 value) with promotion code "FGI." A step-by-step guide follows:
    • Find the registration page: You can do this in two different ways...
    • Choose Option 1 or Option 2
      • Option 1 is for those who have attended NYIGF before
      • Option 2 is for those who are brand new to NYIGF
    • This begins the Registration Process. You can see on the top of the page that there are six steps to this process. In Step 1, at the bottom of the section titled "Name/Badge Information" there is a space for a Promotional Code. Enter "FGI" here and you will receive a Free NYIGF badge.

Free seminar admission : Get one free ticket ($20 value), to one NYIGF's myriad educational sessions* addressing color and product trends, sustainability and retail strategies. Instead of entering a promotional code while you are registering, email Julia Dexter (Julia@cathysteelassociates.com ) and Julia will sign you up for a complimentary $20 seminar of your choice.

CRAFT - NYIGF Power Hours

The NY educational offerings called "Power Hours" are held in the new Javits North building which was especially built for designer/maker crafts.  These 12 seminars are free and last only one hour. They are sponsored by CRAFT and put together by Donna Milstein, VP Education, and her committee.  It is the most sophisticated grouping of subjects and presenters we have ever assembled for any show the past couple years.  It would be very advantageous to CRAFT members to select one or two to attend.  They are on a first come, first served basis for seating.  Hope to see you there.
