It is with deep regret that we report the death of Robert Hohler, the husband of Karen Hohler, president of CRAFT. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Karen and her family. Bob died suddenly on Thursday, June 2, while vacationing in England.
This energetic, capable and caring couple could often be seen at various craft events around the country representing CRAFT. Bob's delightfully warm and charming personality will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
As executive director of the Melville Charitable Trust, he was a national leader in the effort to prevent and end homelessness. Bob was honored as the Year's Distinguished Grantmaker by the Council on Foundations in 2009. He was Chairman of the Partnership for Strong Communities Board, launched Funders Together to End Homelessness, was Chairman of the Board and President of the Civil Rights Project and participated in many other non-profit projects.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
In memory of Bob, CRAFT is establishing a fund for Karen to attend a paper making or book making (her craft passion) conference of her choice, at a time of her choice. We hope this provides a small bit of solace for her in this saddest of all times. Please send your donations to make this happen to the CRAFT Office, PO Box 293, Islamorada, Florida 22036. Please note that your donation is for the Robert Hohler memorial fund.
If you would like to send a card or note to Karen, her address is Karen Hohler, 545 Columbus Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.
