CRAFT at BMAC Philadelphia
It was great seeing all of you who attended the Buyers Market and the CRAFT Social. Wanted you to know what happened the day before you got there! The Board of Craft had their annual face-to-face planning meeting. We recognized the value of all the activities of CRAFT and that it has grown past the capacity of part time volunteers to manage alone. We voted to look into defining the role, funding and hiring of an Executive Director. Over the next few months members will be meeting to work on these issues. Are you interested in participating? It would involve teleconference meetings to discuss and define what this step would look like and require to accomplish. We need you! Please email Karen Hohler at kshohler@gmail.com or call 617-571-5257.

CRAFT Needs a Treasurer
Do you love numbers and what they mean? You're just the person we need! After several years of service, Mary Kesler is retiring as Treasurer for CRAFT. The job of Treasurer requires running budget and other reports from the Quick Books that Laurie Wickham keeps for us. You send the reports to the Executive Committee and the Board with highlights of any issues you think they should look at. Once a month you do the bank reconciliations. A great, well defined job for someone who likes to do things on their own time. Help us out! Please email Karen Hohler at kshohler@gmail.com or call 617-571-5257.

The next installment of the Emmy nominated and Peabody Award winning documentary series Craft in America - a filmed journey to the history, artists and techniques of our nation's rich craft culture - will air nationally on PBS at 8pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2011.
This new episode, entitled MESSAGES, looks at the ways many craft artists go beyond skill to personal and political expression. They use craft to tell a story, prove a point, or bring attention to contemporary issues. Often their work is passionate and provocative. The artists selected for Messages express many different interests and points of view, but they have one thing in common: their skill and creativity are of the highest level.
