Orlando, Jan 2011 Education
Orlando attendance at the educational forums that CRAFT offered was greater than expected, thanks to all of the presenters. It seemed to me that the attendees were starved for knowledge. The post-session reviews were all very positive. The attendees were, to a person, appreciative and excited by what they had learned.
We had 75 at the first day's "Lunch 'n Learns" event and 77 on the second day. Nobody went away without workable ideas to implement right away. We had 6 subjects each day and a volunteer hostess both days from the CRAFT organization that facilitated seating. The Social Media Marketing 8AM panel discussion that we offered was attended by 88 wide-awake people. It was very gratifying to have that many attending our CRAFT educational offerings.
New York Gift Show, Jan 2011 Education
New York Power Hours were a great success. They were scattered over Mon and Tues so that attendees could participate in more than one if they wished. The NYIGift Fair people were prepared for 10-14 at each session, but our attendance was from 22-40 on most of the 8 subjects. Gift Show officials were very pleased and want to build this concept for the August show. Power Hours were planned in order to get gift show attendees into the new Javits North "craft" building and this certainly happened.
I have been able over the last few years to convince ACRE and NYGift to do all their craft-oriented seminars on a free basis. ACC always offered their seminars free. This has really built attendance.
It should be personally gratifying to the presenters that, since you volunteered your time and expertise, at least your efforts were most definitely appreciated and valued. In these times of tough business, sharpening ones skills seems to be very much in vogue. Thank you to all of you who volunteered your knowledge.
Don't forget Table Topics at ACC starting at 8AM on February 23rd, the second wholesale day of the show. Free admittance and free coffee. Come join us.
