Huron Valley Physicians Association (HVPA) is an Independent Physician Association (IPA) located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. HVPA has over 750 physician members throughout southeast Michigan. Approximately 25% of the members are primary care physicians and 75% are specialists.

Medicaid Tamper-Resistant Rx Legislation Made Easy

 In recent discussions with our business partners, such as the Huron Valley Physicians Association in Ann Arbor, Michigan, I learned that many practices around the country are experiencing a great deal of frustration complying with recent legislation requiring prescriptions to be issued on tamper-resistant paper. I decided to do some research and consolidate my findings in this article to help the practices we work with navigate through this maze. Has the Government Really Begun to Walk the Walk in Terms of EHR Initiatives?

Talks about government-initiated healthcare IT incentives have been ongoing for several years now, with little implemented action yet seen. Is it possible that all this talk will finally be converted to real, measurable action? According to the recent initiation of an EHR demonstration project, the answer may be an exciting yes.
A plan outlined by The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) last fall has been put into action and teams of federal health officials have set out across the country to kick-off a five-year demonstration project; of which the goal is to get physician practices electronically capable and viable. The end result sought of this demonstration is to provide concrete figures in terms of the financial, social, and medical benefits of EHRs and integrated practice management systems. Read More... |
