Dear Hands On Volunteer,
Welcome to the August edition of the Hands On Asheville-Buncombe e-newsletter.

President Obama's "United We Serve" service initiative continues this month, highlighting the fact that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when given the proper tools. At this year's Major League Basball All-Star game, President Obama not only threw the opening pitch, he also highlighted the importance of community service and asked all Americans to find a way to get involved in making their community a better place. Before the game, President Obama appeared in an inspiring video with former President's Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Carter celebrating 'All-Stars Among Us,' exceptional men and women who are dedicated to service in their communities. View the video.
