AJF NEWSLETTER

SEPTEMBER
2009
Dear  ,

It has been quite exciting here at AJF launching our new website www.artjewelryforum.org and beginning to plan for our first trip to Europe. I hope you have had time to look at the site and to send back the Trip Survey. Please take a moment to do both right now if you haven't. In our attempt to capture your imagination we have listed all the latest news below that you will find on the new website. Take your pick and explore from there.
Micki LippeCHECK OUT OUR NEW BLOG!

Send us jewelry news and pictures. Sally von Bargen posted a great story about how Seattle jewelry maker Micki Lippe started the Women's Shelter Jewelry Project 10 years ago to distribute donated pieces to shelters and organizations. To read our blog and to find out how you can help click here.

SOFACALENDAR: EXPANDED AND NEW EVENTS ADDED

There is no place on the web where you will find a more extensive and detailed list of  jewelry events, fairs and exhibitions. We've just updated the SOFA info and added news about a fascinating exhibit and conference in Mexico City, click here to take a look.
emiko oye smallEDUCATION: NEW ARTICLES PUBLISHED

AJF promotes art jewelry to a broad audience by sponsoring influential writers to reflect on contemporary art jewelry.  We commission articles to promote scholarship about artist-made jewelry. Please read Back from the Dead: Ornament's Return, by AJF featured author Damian Skinner, click here.
Inspired JewelryBOOK REVIEW: INSPIRED JEWELRY

We are very lucky to have Mike Holmes review books for us, he never fails to provide well considered and insightful reviews. Good jewelry books are difficult to find. We're lucky to have Mike and others on the AJF team searching on our behalf and giving us their expert opinion. To read all our book reviews click here.
AJF continues to grow in other ways.  This month we welcome two new members: Valeria Siemelink from the Netherlands and Andrea Pitsch from New York.  Welcome both of you.

Lots of thanks goes to our stellar, ever-expanding newsletter/website committee: Ahna Adair, Rachel Carren, Jennifer Cross Gans, Mike Holmes, Karen Lorene, Ron Porter and Elise Winters. Our conversations in preparation for the next newsletter are always the highlight of the week. We also want to thank Anna Marie Seymour who has been helping with the website and of course Sally von Bargen who made the site possible in the first place and does all the postings.

With gratitude to all the makers of jewelry and all those who love it,

The AJF board
