What's Up @ The Beadles
September 2009, #1
Greetings, Beaders!

This is going to be a really quick & short (I promise) newsletter. There are a few news bits that we want to let you know about.
Labor Day Hours

Yes, we're open Monday, Labor Day, from 10am to 4pm. We're going to have some quick wire demos, some delicious snacks, and have a great time. The Really Good Deal Table is going to be reduced even further - half of half. Oh, why wait until Monday for that? We'll start that reduction on Saturday.  We're still adding stuff so there really are some good deals to be had.
Daisies & Swirls Earrings
Saturday, September 5th, 10:30am

Daisies wire earrings
Make these cute wire Daisy earrings (along with a pair of wire swirl earrings - oops, no photo)

This class has been rescheduled from the afternoon to the morning.

If you can make it - it'll be a whole lotta fun.

Instructor: Janice Bowden

Class Fee: $20, materials not included
Bye, Bye, Amanda

Our dear friend and coworker, Amanda, is moving to Memphis in a couple weeks. Be sure to stop by to say goodby. We'll miss her talent, good humor, energy & hard work.
The Tail End Redux

Many of you know that I underwent radiation & chemotherapy earlier this year for anal cancer. I had a PET scan earlier this week to determine the success of the treatment. Today I was given the wonderful news that everything looks perfect.

I want to thank the medical team at St. John's Hospital that provided such thorough, effective and compassionate care: Nathan Uy, MD, radiologist; Joseph Moore, MD, oncologist, and Rodney Clingan, MD, rectal surgeon. You saved my life - kind of hard to pay that back. I want to have big billboards all over Tulsa telling everyone how wonderful you guys are. Hopefully, this newsletter will be enough (it's a LOT cheaper!).  I will continue to be an advocate for educating people about anal cancer and the importance of getting a yearly rectal exam. No it isn't fun - it is rather embarrassing - but it is painless - and it can save you a whole lot of grief.

Then there are all of my wonderful customer-friends who have been constantly checking up on me and giving me all kinds of support. A big hug to all of you.
OK, that's the end of the newsletter. Some fun stuff, a sad farewell, and a fairly short stint on the soap box.

Hope you are all doing well and that we get to see you in the shop soon.
