What's Up @ The Beadles
June 11, 2009
 Greetings, Fellow Beaders!

If you haven't been by the shop in the last few weeks, you'll be pleasantly surprised with our new "curb appeal." In addition to the new sidewalk, we now have a table and chairs so you can relax and enjoy this lovely weather (well, it is a covered porch - so you can stay dry and in the shade!) And, we arrived at the shop one day to discover that some secret angel decided to fill our pots with gorgeous plants. What a nice surprise (thanks to Pam Cale.) If you are interested in plants for your summer garden, please consider shopping at A New Leaf. It's in Broken Arrow and is a great organization for helping people with disabilities. For more info, go to their website.

It took almost 2-1/2 years to get furniture for our porch. Please feel free to make use of it. Weather permitting, it will be an awesome place to sit and bead. We're going to figure out a way to get our music playing outside, too. Then, we need to investigate what we need to do to be able to have a frozen daquiri machine on the porch. Just kidding!

I've been in the shop a couple times this week for 2 to 3 hours at a time. I've missed it greatly and can't hardly wait to get my energy levels back to norm so I can do the 7 day a week deal. For more info on my status with respect to the "Big C" see below.

A highlight of this week was having one of my favorite vendors come to my house with his truck. Spent 3 hours and a whole lot more money than I'd planned. But, oh baby, did it feel good to be drooling over all those beads. We've gotten a lot of it out on the sales floor already. Wait until you see the double-drilled mother-of-pearl in a variety of shapes and colors. Yep, I went so nuts over them that we're doing a special. How about we give you a strand? One strand for every $25 before tax sounds like a good plan.

We've also gotten some fabulous carved jade pendants, Czech crystal in a variety of shapes and colors, Hill Tribe silver that is fantabulous, and tons more.

Take a look at our website for scheduled classes. This Saturday we've got a Hammered Earrings & Pendant along with a basic earring class (Simply Earrings.) We're working like crazy to get our class scheduling streamlined so they are scheduled in a more timely fashion. But life keeps interfering!! Yes, we love including photos, but it takes time which slows us down. Yada yada yada.

Hopefully, we'll get back to our fancier newsletters soon with all the fancy photos and helpful hints and all. For right now, we just wanted to get a quick note off to you to say -

We're baaaaack!!

The Tail End
The article formerly called Hind Sight

Background for you new subscribers: a couple months ago I was diagnosed with rectal cancer. I've been on the soap box about everyone getting a complete exam (including the heinie.) One in 17 people will get colon-rectal cancer. 90% of people with rectal cancer initially think they have hemorrhoids.  No one likes those exams and we sure as heck don't like talking about the subject. But, denial can have ugly consequences. We care about you and want you to take care of yourself.

As for me, the treatments are over. I'm looking forward to the PET scan in a couple months and expect to get a clean bill of health.

Meanwhile, I'll be back at the shop driving the staff bonkers and being thrilled to see all of our wonderful friends again.
