What's Up @ The Beadles |
Avian Oasis Trunk Show & More
May 2009 #1 |
|
Greetings, Beady Friends!
Our last newsletter went out a bit prematurely - so there were some errors we should have fixed. Our apologies. We'll try to keep our boo-boos to a minimum in this one. But no promises. Beading is so much more fun that sitting at the computer.
Oh my goodness, the new inventory is piled high in the back room and we've got to get it organized by Monday - when John Fellows, Avian Oasis, arrives. More info on that below. We've gotten more Czech glass, more sea glass, more shell heishi, more Bali silver (went a wee bit overboard - but couldn't resist). The operative word seems to be More. FYI, we've now got skull beads in bone, ceramic AND Bali silver.
The Tulsa Bead Blast was fabulous. I got to spend some time there which made it even more special. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped support the efforts of the hard-working Oklahoma Bead Society. One of my favorite lampworkers was there - Vicki Warburton, from Fayetteville, AR. We may have to invite her for a special trunk show at the Beadles.
Another very special "event" deserves recognition. That is the delivery to the shop & to my home, a plethora of well-wishes from so many of you. Get well cards, gift bags full of special treats, potted plants, phone calls & emails, from customers and fellow shop owners (Suzanne, Tammy & Loretta.) We beaders are truly nice people.
The big date in May is May 10th - Mother's Day. We've got a helpful note at the bottom of the newsletter. Simply cut it out & place it in some hard-to-miss spot.
Happy Beading!
Teresa

**Avian Oasis Trunk Show** Tuesday, May 5, 10am-7pm
Do not miss this event! Yes, John Fellows will be here for his spring trunk show at the Beadles. His show is always a big hit and we hope you'll find time to stop by. As always, he'll have fabulous stones and some great deals. |
Got Magazines?
The magazine selection at the St. John's Cancer Treatment Center is pathetic. They are old and boring. If you have any magazines (home, garden, autos, sports, news, crafts, etc.) that you'd like to donate, please bring them by the shop. We'll take care of delivering them. It is a nice treat for the patients, it helps the environment, and, it makes more room at home for beads. |
Classes
Be sure to check our website calendar frequently to see what new classes have been added.
Also, we are always looking for enthusiastic, talented instructors. Let us know if you are interested in teaching at the Beadles.
Bye-Bye Swarovski Bicone!
Yes, it is true. Effective June 2009, Swarovski is discontinuing their bicone (style #5301.) There are a number of reasons they've decided to do this - a primary reason is most likely constant copying.
But, don't despair. The bicone is being phased out as stock is depleted. It is being replaced by the Xilion bead (style #5328.) This bead has more intricate faceting that will make it even lovelier - not to mention more difficult to imitate. But it's overall shape is that of the current bicone. |
Hind Sight What's Up w/ Teresa
I've completed the first round of chemo and the first two weeks of radiation. The second round of chemo begins May 18 for 5 days. The radiation is 5 days a week for 4 more weeks.
I didn't get any nausea from the chemo for which I am very thankful. But, the treatment is tiring so I spend a lot of time snoozing.
It is my understanding that my energy level will continue to drop. So I'm going into the shop as much as I can right now & hope I'm there when you come by.
