For the Good of the Game
In January at the VYSA Workshop, the Old Dominion Soccer League's administrator, Dave Milne, was honored as the 2008 Administrator of the Year. Demosphere has known Dave for many years and we totally agree; he is a most deserving recipient. Dave has made major contributions to the soccer community on a variety of levels.

One area where we have always been impressed is his strong and consistent commitment to good sportsmanship. For ODSL, good sportsmanship has always been a priority. Each season ODSL coaches vote for a team within their own division whose play and sideline behavior exhibited the best sportsmanship. Also factored into the ODSL sportsmanship awards are referee reports and cards. Dave uses Demosphere's ClubSite League Scheduling System with added-in sportsmanship rating features to help accomplish this. The ODSL Randy Rawls Sportsmanship Awards honor the winner's sense of fair play, and Demosphere thinks this, under Dave Milne's steady leadership and guidance, is truly 'For the Good of the Game.'
Demosphere-On-The-Go!
In mid-January, members of Demosphere's staff traveled to St. Louis for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Workshop, the largest annual soccer gathering in the United States. With temperatures below zero, workshop attendees gladly lined up on opening night for our Demosphere scarf giveaway. However, it was the in-person meetings with existing customers and putting faces to voices that really kept our team warm.

Demosphere continued its busy travel month with stops at the Virginia Youth Soccer Association Workshop and the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association AGM. Two long-time Demosphere friends were honored at the VYSA Awards luncheon. Congratulations to John 'Mac' McLaughlin for receiving VYSA's highest award, the 2009 Adele Dolansky Exemplary Service Award, for his 35 years of service to Arlington Soccer Association, and to Dave Milne, recipient of the VYSA 2008 Administrator of the Year (see 'For the Good of the Game').

Look for Demosphere at the following events this month:
Feb. 6-7: South Texas Youth Soccer Assn. Winter GBM (Corpus Christi, TX)
Feb. 7: Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Assn. Coaches Workshop (Downingtown, PA)
Feb. 22: Arizona Youth Soccer Assn. AGM (Phoenix, AZ)
Feb. 28: Soccer Rhode Island (Warwick, RI)

Tip of the Month - Online Registration
Check out the new Online Registration feature: "Find Registration Errors".  Accessed via the OLR administrative page, this new feature provides immediate answers to why a specific player is unable to register for a particular program.  Every step of the registration process is automatically checked from the player being too young/old to not yet being approved for a travel registration in the tryout to travel process. This new feature will allow you to answer parents' questions quickly.
