Canadian Nationals will no longer be entitled to visa upon arrival services for entry into the UAE.
The UAE Embassy does not issue visas for business
or tourist visits. Instead, ctms can apply for your
visa via a number of authorised UAE companies authorised to process applications.
A minimum of 7 working days is required to process applications.
A brief summary of the documentation required to obtain a visa follows:

Passport Copy
Photograph
Confirmed Ticket or Hotel Reservation
Relevant Visa Fees
Completed Application Form
Additional documents that "may" speed up your application include:
Proof of previous visits to the UAE in the last year
Detailed travel history covering previous 5-years
Bank statement for the last six months
Letter from your employer along with last two months salary slip
After processing your application you will be sent a copy of your visa which you should print off and keep with you in order to board your plane. On arrival in UAE you must proceed to the "Visa Delivery" unit to collect the "original" of your visa.
