There's a wealth of information in this edition of the e-newsletter ranging from how families can receive excellent medical care in spite of a language barrier to how and when your child should ride in a car safety seat.  As always, we welcome you to email, tweet or call us if you have any feedback or questions.

The Language of Health Care

"It's a great relief to know that I don't have to feel isolated because I don't speak a particular language."  This is what Maria Guillén had to say about working with a medical interpreter during her many interactions with her son's care-givers at Franciscan Hospital for Children over the years.

For Maria, whose primarily language is Spanish, having the opportunity to speak to care-givers through an interpreter has been a tremendous help.

Kids Need Their Car Seats Longer

Car Seat Safety

It's definitely a tricky job to get your child's car seat positioned correctly and locked in place but keeping up the proper adjustments as they grow is extremely important.

Now, car safety guidelines are only based on your child's height and weight, not their age.
