Safety Tips for Winter Outdoor Activities


Winter Outdoor ActivitiesWinter can be a great time for some exciting and fun outdoor activities. Two of the most popular for school-age children are ice skating and sledding.

However fun either may be, each sport has elements that could potentially be dangerous if the correct safety precautions are not observed.



Flu Prevention, Treatment & Shots Available

Flu ShotYes! The Flu Shot is still recommended and it's still offered here at Franciscan to children in our regular and medical daycare, on all our units, to family members, caregivers and staff.  Vaccination is still the best way to protect against seasonal flu and its potential severe complications in children.

One seasonal flu vaccine protects against three influenza viruses, H1N1, H3N2 virus and influenza B virus. 

Holiday Wrap Up! Who's Bigger than Santa?

Every child will say the holiday season is their 'favorite' time of year, but for children at Franciscan Hospital for Children, this truly was a holiday season to remember!  When Santa visits, the entire hospital gets turned upside down.Shaquille Plays Santa


But after Santa,nothing could compare to our surprise visit from the Boston Celtics # 36 Shaquille O'Neal!  Standing 7' 1" tall and weighing 325 pounds, he is one of the biggest players ever to play in the NBA. 

When Going Back to School Takes on New Meaning

As you can see in her photo, Justine Aragona is radiant in anticipation of her upcoming senior prom night. 

For most of her fellow students the BIG NIGHT celebrates all that is to come as they transition to the next phase of their lives.  Graduation and all its traditions, however, had its own very special meaning for Justine. READ MORE >>
