             Kenny Ashby at the kit
It pleases us (and should please you, too) that the multi-talented Kenny Ashby will be hosting our Saturday afternoon Open Jams, starting this very week. Drummer, singer, consumate showman and great guy, Kenny is a awesome addition to our program.

In other news, we'll be adding several layers of soundproofing to Studio 3 this weekend, in order to further isolate it from Studio 2. You may recall Studio 3's humble origins, when it was simply an extra room for daytime vocal lessons. It's come a long way.
 Law & Order

I don't ever want to play the role of schoolteacher (perhaps Headmaster, occasionally), but lately I've been confronting errant jammers drinking in the studios, smokin' in the boys room, and talking to me as if I'm their bee-yatch. Let me make this perfectly clear: Those who can't treat the Jam and everyone in it respectfully can find somewhere else to play. It's unfair to me and Eric (we have much better things to be doing with our time) - as well the vast majority of members and visitors who appreciate the Jam and have no problem keeping it clean, pleasant, and full of good vibes. Class dismissed.

Epiphone Nick Valensi P-94The Guitar Of The Week returns:
Strokes lead guitarist Nick Valensi used to call his customized '60s Epiphone Riviera "the greatest instrument never made," but now it's in production. Part of the prestigious Elitist line of vintage-inspired Epiphones, the Nick Valensi Riviera features genuine Gibson P-94 pickups that put the hot, thick, punchy sound of a P-90 in a humbucker-size housing. Just like a '60s Riviera, the Valensi model feaures a 5-ply maple top, back, and sides; a one-piece set mahogany neck, nickel hardware, a bone nut, and trapeze tailpiece. Jam members are welcome to take her for a spin, now through September 27.
