RebelWe'll start the fall season with a splash next month, as Jam members take the stage for our first-ever showcase at Rebel, the West 30th Street venue that (years ago) was once Downtime. Completely remodeled and expanded, Rebel boasts five distinct areas, an elevated stage with state of the art sound, and best of all, go go cages flanking the performance area. Rock n' roll! Our Rebel debut happens on Thursday, September 27.

Eric BradleyHappy 40th Birthday to Jam Vice President Eric Bradley - it's all downhill from here! As always, your appreciation for the other guy who devotes his life to helping others make music can be expressed in a variety of ways - but fine chocolate speaks loudest. Although Eric will be out celebrating during the week, he'll be back at the Jam on Friday and Saturday (he usually works Tuesdays and Thursdays when we have shows; Tuesdays and Saturdays when we don't).
 Advice

Experienced musicians know that rehearsal sessions are NOT for learning songs - you should do that long before getting together with your bandmates. Unless everyone agrees on that particular modus operandi, you're wasting each other's time and stunting your own growth. So make the time not just to listen to the songs you'll be playing, but to learn them by playing and/or singing them. Repeatedly. Headphone amps, electronic drums, and other silicon-based life forms can help you develop your muscle memory at home - or book some good old-fashioned solo rehearsal time ($12 an hour) at the Jam. All of our studio PAs are equipped with inputs for your portable music player.

 Literature
Double Edged Justice
Jam member, advertising exec, and Limelight drummer Kendall Smith recently added "Author" to his busy resume, with the release of his debut novel "Double-Edged Justice." Fans of the Legal Thriller genre can pick up the book via Amazon, or at very least check out the nifty website.
