Our first show of the Summer season happens this Thursday (6/7) at Red Lion, and features the debut performances of two new bands. Check out the first-ever appearance of The Roaming Goats (Ice David, Tony Novarro subbing for Sean Neal, K Mita, Taka Shimizu, Robin Bundy), '80s torch bearers Limelight (Liza Horan (pictured right), Brian Bernstein, Kendall Smith, Jesse Short, UB Cheung), the debut of Elvis Presley acolytes Just Elvis (Brendan Dennehy, Ronnie Safdie, Tom Cumby, Tom Shepherd), the rockin'-and-poppin' Princess Rainbow & the Crown Victorians (Minx, John Carucci, Phil Dunn, Tyler Land, Grace Millo, Guy Villano), a heaping plate o' blues-funk-rock from Sand Storm (Bob Adleman, Phil Dunn, Sandra Lagerstrom, Fernando Menendez, Tony Novarro), and "the world's second greatest Rolling Stones show" of The Rolling Bones (Ted Ames, Greg Manning, George Majoros, Charlie Mangano, Scott McCoy, Sandra Lagerstrom, Dave Stancavish, Guy Villano).

New Moon
I could try and convey the profound, intimate beauty of Elliott Smith to you. I could try to explain why his earliest works are best. And I could try to impart a sense of the windfall that is New Moon - a collection of demos, radio performances, and tracks otherwise left off the seminal Elliott Smith album and his masterwork, Either/Or. But (as Elvis Costello once said) writing about music is like dancing about architecture. Have a listen instead.

 Sports

Mighty Dwight At The BatIn softball news, The Jam played its season opener against the Tim Mullins All-Stars this past Thursday. After giving up 12 runs in the first two innings, the Jammers buckled down and played great ball, shutting out the All-Stars for the remainder  of the game. The Jammers' rally was fueled by Dwight Yellen (pictured) with 3 hits, and newest Jammer Steven Leidenfrost, who drove in 4 runs. In the end, we came up short, losing 12-7. The Jammers' next game will be June 21 against the Red Cross.
