Square Feeet
An estimated 400 people filled Knitting Factory this past Friday for the 14th annual
Jammy Awards, and what a party it was! Beatles homage Newspaper Taxis got the most nods, including kudos for Best Male Vocalist (Robert Brandow), Best Keys (Brian August), and Song Of The Night ("I Am The Walrus") - and edged out a stellar Pink Flawd for Best Tribute. Dave Sasscer & The Mojo Conga Jam (with Best Guitarist David Patterson) held onto their Best Original Act crown, as did three-time Best Cover Band Square Feeet (including Best Bassist Billy Mendelson and Best Drummer Nick Cangemi). Other big winners were Sandra Lagerstrom (Best Female Vocalist) and Tony Novarro (Jammer of The Year). A huge Thank You to all who performed, attended, sponsored, judged, and worked hard to make this year's Jammys such a great event.

Scott McCoy lays it down with LP ClassicsOver the last few weeks, we've been entirely focused on the Jammys - but now that they're over, we're back devoting our energies to raising the quality of jam sessions, getting people in bands, and improving studio infrastructure. Toward the latter end, we'll see some new Zildjian cymbals very shortly, and we've also acquired a shiny new set of LP Classic II congas (shown here being played by 2006 Jammy-winning Percussionist Scott McCoy). We've always got a few items on our Wishlist (a new keyboard, a Marshall amp, maybe some lefty instruments), and we're always open to your suggestions about how we can make the Jam more complete and comfortable.
