Montel Williams dropped by the Jam this past Friday for a photo shoot for the cover of an upcoming issue of Making Music Magazine. The bassist and singer was interviewed (in Studio 2) about his passion for music, and how it has helped him cope with the debilitating affects of MS.

This Thursday's (2/8) Knitting Factory showcase features the Jam debuts of Liz Weber and Brooke Moriber (both in acoustic sets accompanied by Tony Novarro), original music from Fugue State (pictured left, Pam Arnold, Joe Freeman, Kevin Shenoy, Noah Stein), the hard-rockin' Gremmie's Noisebucket (Carlos Cabrales, Matt Moore, Mike Marinello, Pete Parella), and classic R&B from Soul Garden (Lou Clark, Rich Mansour, Tony Novarro, Rich Oshinsky, Jackie Schwartz). |

As promised, Studio 3 finally gets "tuned" this week by EQ guru Gabe Schwartz (who also delivered the informative "introduction to the PA" seminar a few months back). The point of tuning a room is not only to give it a balanced response, but also to give it a higher resistance to feedback. Most studios are concerned with the former, but few pay attention to the latter. WE do.

I'll be taking a belated honeymoon from 2/10 to 2/15, during which time the Jam will be in the capable hands of Eric Bradley. If you have issues you'd like to resolve before I go off to my undisclosed location, now's the time. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, the Bulletin will continue to enliven your dreary Monday (2/12), as always.
