Happy Birthday To The Jam: This Thursday (2/1) we'll be celebrating one year in Times Square with a showcase at Red Lion, featuring the Jam debuts of Rardi and Neil Young tribute Lazy Horse (Ted Ames, Dr. Goody, Elliot Hurwitz, Bruce Meyer, Gregg Raybin), A Perfect Circle tribute Open Circle (Jose Andrade, Brian Bernstein, Carlos Cabrales, UB Cheung, Marc Steve), Dueling Elvis (playing the music of both Elvi: Robert Brandow, Hank Goldsmith, Pete Herman, George Majoros, Joe Tomasulo), 2006's Best Original Act, Dave Sasser & The Mojo Conga Jam, and 2006's Best Tribute Band, The Rolling Bones (Ted Ames, Sandra Langerstrom, George Majoros, Charlie Mangano, Greg Manning, Scott McCoy, Dave Stancavish, Guy Villano). As if that weren't enough, at 11 pm we'll be announcing the nominees for the 2007 Jammy Awards. Don't miss the party! Please visit our website to see the full schedule of jam sessions and other events, peruse the Personals, and generally avoid doing any real work. |

This canary-colored screamer is a Tak Matsumoto Les Paul. Relatively unknown in these parts, Mr. Matsumoto is one-half of Japanese supergroup B'z, and his Gibson signature guitar features coverless "zebra" Burstbucker pickups, nickel hardware, and a slim-taper neck. Beneath the lurid yellow and black paint job is a rather conventional maple-topped mahogany body and neck. Jam members are cordially invited to take 'er for a spin through February 8. |

While it's fun to talk about (and acquire) new gear, it's also important to maintain what we've got. Time, weather, and humidity take their toll on strings, necks, tubes, input jacks, and cords (both vocal and electrical). If it doesn't play or sound right, give it some attention. Ignoring it will probably NOT make it go away, and in some cases may cause expensive damage. If you love your instrument, take good care of it - if not by learning some simple preventive care, then by visiting a qualified professional. |

[To respond to or place personal ads, just send us an email.] August West (a Grateful Dead tribute) is looking for a keyboard player, and another singer (you do not have to be both). Correction from last week: Full Metal Jacket (a hard rock outfit that goes through singers like Spinal Tap goes through drummers) is once again seeking a frontperson. "It doesn't matter if you can play a scale. It doesn't matter if your technique is good. If you have feelings that you want to get out through music, that's what matters. If you have the ability to express yourself and you feel good when you do it, then that's why you do it. " -Neil Young Jam Master G a/k/a Gregg Raybin |
