Into the World, and Ready

TAF Academy graduates

Last weekend was momentous for members of TAF Academy’s senior class, and for the rest of those lucky enough to attend their graduation ceremony at the Tacoma Landmark Convention Center. Rousing speeches by Superintendent Rob Neu and TAF founder Trish Millines Dziko didn’t outshine those by several poised and eloquent seniors. “We’re more than just a graduating class,” graduate Nila Griffin proclaimed. “We’re the first graduating class of TAF Academy. We’re tech-savvy leaders, and innovative thinkers.” Go tigers!

It was a Huge Success

TechStart students

Websites, robot obstacle courses, raffle prizes and even an impromptu rap performance were among the many highlights of last weekend’s TechStart Expo. Congrats to Hilltop Elementary for producing the winning team, and thanks to all the students, families and volunteers who made this year’s event one of the best the world has ever seen!

BBQ, Bouncy Houses and a Big New Home

Bethaday Community Learning Space

On June 1st, nearly 200 people gathered to preview TAF’s new home in White Center. Situated atop a hill in Lakewood Park, the Bethaday Community Learning Space blends into its surroundings so well that several community members commented that it looked like a tree house! Unlike a tree house, the BCLS will be accessible to all when it opens this fall. In addition to housing TAF programs, it’ll be open for use by community groups.
