Greetings!
You can't always count on the weather to brighten your mood during an early Seattle summer. But you can count on our kids: every year, summer at TAF brings with it a chance to celebrate their creativity, hard work and technological savvy.
Summer is a time for TAF kids to show off.
Eight of our TAF Academy students just competed in Imagine Tomorrow at Washington State University; this year's theme was energy sustainability. Manpreet Bassi, Cameron Sharpe and Stephon Regis formed Team APEC and won the Best Project Award for Congressional District #9!
There'll be no better way to spend a couple of hours on June 18th than being dazzled by the abilities of more than 250 of Seattle's great younger minds at the TechStart Expo. We'll provide snacks and 1st-8th grade TechStart students; all you have to do is show up to see what the STEM professionals of tomorrow have in store for us!
TechStart Expo
June 18, 2011 * 11am - 1pm
Southwest Boys & Girls Clubin White Center
9800 8th Ave. SW, Suite 105
When you're with TAF, summer is a time to think about what you've learned, like how a public/private partnership like TAF Academy can make education really work for all kids.
And, you figure out what else you want to learn. At TAF Academy's Jump Start Summer Academy in August, incoming 6th and 7th graders will have a chance to get ahead in math so they're ready to succeed when schools starts up again. They'll learn how to get the most out of project-based learning and technology at TAFA-they'll even create their own projects!
Summer Academy is free to students, but we need your support to make it and our other programs happen.
To stretch your impact, make a donation to TAF via the Seattle Foundation's website on June 23rd, the day of their GiveBIG event (RSVP for reminders and updates). The more you give, the more funds from the Seattle Foundation's "stretch pool" go to TAF.
If you've been waiting, now's the time to check out what we've been up to and help us grow if you can.
With enough resources, we'll have even more to celebrate this time next year!
Thanks for listening,

Trish Millines Dziko
