Osmosis Newsletter - April 2011
As Earth Day approaches we are reminded of the environment and our relationship to it but now that awareness has sharpened considerably. Natural disasters and safe and renewable energy sources are clearly at the forefront of our collective minds. It is a time to sit quietly, feel deeply and breathe a deep and compassionate breath with our fellow man and with our planet.

Breath awareness is the threshold where mind and body connect. We believe that breath is the best place to start as we build towards realizing the full potential of vital living. Over the long winter months we at Osmosis have been developing a new treatment to build vitality through breath and body work simultaneously.

This unique and restorative treatment has been developed by our highly experienced practitioners and Maria Freebairn-Smith, a Middendorf Breath experience specialist. When we elevate breath awareness above the autonomic nervous system and into consciousness, many of us find we are not breathing deeply or freely. Our breath may be constricted by tension in our bodies, fear, or oppressive thought patterns and emotions. When we keep ourselves from breathing deeply we reduce the flow of oxygen into our cells, inhibiting many vital processes in our bodies, minds and spirits.

The intention of the Osmosis Breath Massage is to help you discover how breath moves throughout the body as you receive your massage and how to open pathways to a more liberated breathing rhythm. It is similar to meditating, but you have the added benefit of your practitioner's hands gently bringing you back to the present moment's awareness.  Read More...

Monthly Meditation
tree in hand

This month's meditation honors Earth Day.
It encourages you to mirror the earth's rhythms by embracing imperfection and opening to what is, in a playful and lighthearted way.
As we enter the month of April, let us take time to honor the qualities of openness and spontaneity so obvious in the natural world. Find time one day to go to a place in nature that you resonate with.
