Greetings!
Over the past several months, I have discussed many of the disciplines that you need to embrace and put into practice in order to be successful in life. Today, I want to take another approach that you may want to consider in determining what financial success you want out of life. For this, you need to first determine your present "hourly rate." If you know your hourly rate, multiply that figure by 2,000 - this is the number of hours that an entrepreneur or executive works normally each year in our society. The math is simple: 40 hours a week multiplied by 50 weeks in a year. Now, how much do you want to earn per year? Take that amount and this time divide it by 2,000 and now you have the rate you must earn per hour to reach that goal. If your goal is $100,000, then you have to earn $50 per hour for 2,000 hours to achieve this. If you aren't making the $50 per hour, then what do you have to do to earn that amount? Get a better education or skill? Get into a different profession or make a career change? Take the time to think about this, because only by giving it the necessary time will you be able to make the proper decision in order to achieve that financial amount or more. If your goal is less, then just simply divide what you would like to earn annually to be happy and live comfortably, and divide that number by 2,000 and that will give you the amount you need to earn per hour. What you make is up to you...how you do it is also up to you! I use the "multiple streams of income" approach which works for me and I'll share this approach with you at a later date. Good luck and don't make your financial goals too low...in your calculations, you need to consider your future retirement, education for your children, vacations, real estate purchases and many other things that are important or should be important for your future.

Weekly "Dicho con Café"
"Barajeamela mas despacio."
The author's translation is that "Shuffle it a little slower."
What this dicho is stressing is to whenever someone is trying to explain something to you that may not sound quite right, ask them to just say it a little slower so that it can be understood. This dicho is applicable when someone is trying to get you involved in something that you may not be sure about and your need to have the "proposition" explained a little slower so that you can fully understand. It can usually be a business proposal that may require you to invest some money, time or material while not being sure if it is indeed a good deal for you. Many times, those proposing the investment will speak rapidly to other people without giving them time to digest the concept, money needed, or some other part of the proposal. The reference made to slowing the shuffling (cards being dealt) is to make sure that someone is not trying to "sneak a card in the bottom of the deck" that will most certainly be a loss to you, the investor. |

More About John A. Flores
In an earlier newsletter, Mr. Flores briefly mentioned his visiting the Great Wall of China with his wife, and felt that it would be interesting to the reader for him to discuss this "Wonder of the World" a little more. The Great Wall is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood and other materials, generally built along an east-west line across the historical northern borders of China, in part to protect the Chinese Empire against intrusion by various warlike peoples or forces. Several walls were built as early as the 700 BC, with its most famous stretch built between 220-206 BC. The Great Wall measures, based on the most comprehensive archeological survey, 5,500 miles which are made up of 3,889 miles of actual wall, 223 miles of trenches and 1,387 miles of natural defensive barriers such as hills and rivers. Stones were used over mountain ranges, while rammed earth was used for construction in the plains. It is estimated that up to one million workers died during the building of the Qin Wall, which is just a section of the Great Wall. To date, new sections of the Great Wall are still being uncovered, as sections of the wall have been submerged over time by sandstorms which moved across the arid region. As recently as 2009, there were 180 miles of previously undetected portions of the wall unearthed, which were built during the Ming Dynasty (1440-1460's). Its most significant defense of the country was against the Tartars (i.e. Mongols) of Genghis Khan and Kublai Khan fame. The Floreses were not only able to visit, but also walk for several hundred yards up to a guard house on the Great Wall of China and a picture of their visit is displayed in the library in their house. This is another site for you to put in your "Bucket List" of places to visit. It is indeed one of the "Wonders of the World."
When he's not writing books, Mr. Flores makes presentations to local, regional and national groups, using dichos to motivate his audiences. You can contact him for speaking engagements at (559) 456-0128 or at his personal email at jaflores1246@comcast.net
