Proposed Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Workshop Meeting

Next Week's City Council business offers the first indepth discussion of the City Manager's Proposed Fiscal Year 2013 Budget during the special Workshop Meeting on Tuesday, August 21st, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.  The City Council and the City staff will begin a detailed review of the departmental budgets.

 

Other important City-related business announcements:

  • The Leon Valley Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors is accepting applications for three positions which are up for appointment by September 30, 2012.  The Announcement and an Application Form are part of the attachments to this week's ENews. 
  • If you're wondering where your Lion's Roar Newsletter is and why it may not have reached your mailbox yet... Kristie Flores, Community Development Director, advises that the publisher indicated that the Newsletter was to be mailed out starting August 16th due to some of the publisher's internal printing issues.  Thank you for your patience. 
  • The Department of Public Works has released information related to Fall Clean-up Week which is September 3rd through September 9th.  Collection begins at 7 a.m. on September 10th.  Please see the flyer for details in the attachments.
  • The Pet Vaccination Clinic is set for Saturday, September 8th, from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Leon Valley Conference Center.  Read the flyer for details and more information in the attachments.
  • As Summer winds down, the Leon Valley Public Library brings to a close its Summer Reading Program,  on Saturday, August 18th, with the Lucas Miller Summer Reader's Party at 2:30 p.m. at the Library.  Please see the Calendar of Events in the attachments.
  • A very important reminder is that the City of Leon Valley continues in Stage 2 Water Restrictions.  With the extremely hot weather, it is so important to continue to conserve water when and where possible.  Visit the City's website, click here to read details about the restrictions.

Regular City Council Meetings are scheduled on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 7 p.m.   

Please note that Special City Council Meetings can be scheduled for different days and beginning times. 

Official public notices and meeting agendas are posted on the City's Bulletin Board outside the City Hall front doors at 6400 El Verde Road, Leon Valley, 78238, at least 72 hours before the start of the meeting posted, in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.

Shop first and buy fresh at the Leon Valley Farmer's Market for produce.  The Leon Valley Farmer's Market is located on the Parking Lot next to the Leon Valley Public Library on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
 
Stay cool at one of our quality community pools this Summer; the Leon Valley Family Pool and the Forest Oaks Pool.
 
The Northwest Senior Citizens Club of Leon Valley is having its 2nd Health Fair on Wednesday, August 29, from 9:30 a.m.to 1 p.m. at the Leon Valley Community Center located at 6427 Evers Road.  The event is free.
