Summer Time is Here!

Greetings!   

 

It is official between the July 4th Parade and the City staff working on the City Budget for the next fiscal year, Summer Time is here!  Before we move on, there is always need to pause and celebrate.  For those of you who could not make the July 4th Independence Day Parade, although there is nothing like being at a parade, you can still see some of the celebration and some of the events that happened.  We invite you to visit the City's home page on the internet to view the pictures by clicking here

 

We express our deepest appreciation for the Mayor and City Council, for our special invited guests, Dr. John Folks, U.S. Congressman Charlie Gonzalez, Bruce Hathaway, and Gary DuLune who participated in making Leon Valley's July 4th Parade and Celebration the best ever. 

 

We are grateful to the Community Events Committee, and staff liaison Sylvia Gomez for their outstanding efforts as always to make the 4th of July in the City of Leon Valley a noteworthy one.   Special thanks to Dyhanara Rios for leading us in singing our national anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner.

Also, we thank the City Staff for their participation without whom the parade, the parade route, and the City facilities could not have been made ready:  The Leon Valley City Manager's Office, the Leon Valley Community Development Department, the Leon Valley Fire Department, the Leon Valley Police Department, the Leon Valley Public Library, the Leon Valley Public Works Department.  We also appreciate the support services of the Economic Development, Finance, and Human Resources Departments. 

  

Finally, we invite you to meet Mayor Chris Riley at her next Quarterly Walk with the Mayor, tomorrow, Saturday, July 7th at 8:30 a.m.  

 

Meet Mayor Riley at Raymond Rimkus Park at the

Community Garden, near the large parking lot and walking trail.  We recommend wearing light-colored and loose fitting clothing and comfy walking shoes.

Regular City Council Meetings are scheduled on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 7 p.m.   

Please note that Special City Council Meetings can be scheduled for different days and beginning times. 

Official public notices and meeting agendas are posted on the City's Bulletin Board outside the City Hall front doors at 6400 El Verde Road, Leon Valley, 78238, at least 72 hours before the start of the meeting posted, in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.

Other City Meetings & Community Events This Coming Week

The LeonValley Park Commission meets on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Leon Valley City Hall in the City Council Chambers.  The public is welcome to attend.  

 

The Bandera Road Site Community Advisory Group (CAG) is meeting on Thursday, July 19th at 5:30 p.m. at the Leon Valley Conference Center.  The public is welcome to attend.

With 100 degree weather, we encourage you to eat fresh and eat healthy.    Shop the Leon Valley Farmer's Market for fresh and healthy alternatives.  The Leon Valley Farmer's Market is located on the Parking Lot next to the Leon Valley Public Library on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
 
Cool off in one of our quality community pools this Summer; the Leon Valley Family Pool and the Forest Oaks Pool.
