Greetings!
On Wednesday, June 27th, the City Council met in a Special Meeting to conduct the business of considering an Ordinance for the Issuance of the $7 Million in General Obligation Bonds, as authorized by City voters at the May 12, 2012 Elections.
We are gratified to report that the years of managing the City's finances in a conservative and fiscally-responsible manner were rewarded this week on Wednesday with the financing of $7,000,000 as a number of bidders participated as a part of the financing process of the 2012 Series of City of Leon Valley general obligations bonds.
The issuance of the general obligations bonds occurred at a remarkable 2.49 percent interest on the bond sale and reflects a $1.2 million dollars savings in interest charges. For more information, visit the City's website; click here.
The City Council at its June 19th Meeting created the 2012 Bond Program Oversight Committee and appointed 6 members to what will be a 7 member committee. The Committee was appointed to help with the all-important work of citizen oversight as the Bond Program begins. The appointment of a seventh member and the appointment of a chair of the Committee will be undertaken by the City Council at its July 17th Meeting.
Please be reminded that the July 3rd City Council Meeting was cancelled. The next Regular City Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 17th, as previously mentioned.
