Leon Valley is Open for Business!

Greetings!

The City Council and the Leon Valley Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors met on Tuesday, June 19, as part of a  2nd Quarterly Meeting seeking to strengthen communications with this all-important partnership with the LVEDC.  The Corporation, through its Board of Directors and City staff is  directly involved in growing the economy in the City of Leon Valley, and being involved with Leon Valley businesses and stakeholders.

Although the American economy continues its slow growth, we are grateful to be able to say that truly Leon Valley is Open for Business!

Mayor Riley, City Manager Longoria, and various members of the City staff were present at the Ancira-Winton Grand Opening last week.  On Saturday, Terra Bella Fashion had its Grand Opening.  We invite you to visit the City's website for photos of each of these important business grand openings and events.    As always, we encourage you to Shop Leon Valley First!

Members of the City staff were also in attendance at the

Leon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce

The City Council at its June 19th Meeting created, by ordinance, the 2012 Bond Program Oversight Committee and  appointed 6 members to what will be a 7 member committee.  The Committee was appointed to help with the all-important work of citizen oversight as the Bond Program begins.

On Wednesday, June 27th, the City Council will meet in a Special Meeting to conduct the business of considering an Ordinance for the Issuance of the $7 Million in General Obligation Bonds, as authorized by City voters at the May 12, 2012 Elections.  We had previously published this meeting was to happen on Tuesday, June 26th, but due to scheduling conflicts, the meeting was re-scheduled.  The public is welcome to attend the Special City Council Meeting on Wednesday, June 27th at 12 Noon in the City Council Chambers.

Just a reminder that the July 3rd City Council Meeting was cancelled.  The next Regular City Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 17th.

There are a number of other community meeting cancellations reflected below.   There is still time to volunteer or renew your commitment to volunteer on one of the City Council's boards, committees or commissions.  Letters from the Mayor's Office should be in your mailbox requesting your preference if you are currently on one of the rosters of the boards.  If you didn't receive a letter, or are simply interested in service to your City, please contact the City Secretary's Office at 684-1391, extension 216.    Applications for service will be considered at the City Council's July 17th City Council Meeting.
