Greetings!
Each year, student artists, as young as 4 years of age and as old as 18 years of age, exhibit and sell their work and limited edition prints at the Annual Los Leones Student Art Festival. This is part of a wonderful partnership between the Northside Independent School District (Northside ISD), the Northside Education Foundation, and the City of Leon Valley. It is a free indoor and outdoor festival that includes dance, choral performances, hands-on art activities, food, and professional artist demonstrations. Each year, the event which was inspired by former Leon Valley Mayor Marcy Meffert, attracts thousands to the Festival. Los Leones ("The Lions" in Spanish) teaches students about "the business of art," while also working to establish an active arts community. All Northside ISD high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools participate in Los Leones. Each year, several thousand pieces of quality student artwork are placed on display. Admission is free. Free shuttle buses will continuously transport event participants to and from the parking lot at Leon Valley Elementary School, 7111 Huebner Road, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please note that the Awards Ceremony takes place at 9:30 a.m. Information in this announcement is courtesy of the Northside Independent School District Partnership Office. |
