                       You're Invited!

This Saturday there is truly a lot going on at the City of Leon Valley.  There are two events on Saturday, February 25th between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Come to one, come to both!

February 25, 2012 marks the 23rd Anniversary of the City of Leon Valley's Earthwise Living Day Event.

We hope that you will join us at the Leon Valley Community and Conference Centers, located at 6427 Evers Road, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The event features speakers and exhibitors who  promote a sustainable way of life.  This year's event features WOAI-TV News Meteorologist Albert Flores as emcee.

There are other speakers and fun opportunities throughout the four hour event.  Healthy food will be available for purchase.  Bring your own mug for free lemonade.

Door prizes will be given away throughout the day, including Spurs tickets, generously donated by Waste Management.  Missions tickets will also be a door prize.  You must be present to win.  There will be a free tree giveaway to Leon Valley residents while supplies last.

The second event on Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., is the continuation of the Tours of the Municipal Facilities, located at 6400 El Verde Road.   We have grown over the years in our services to you.  This is an opportunity to see just how much.

We hope you will stop in at City Hall between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Tour will include information on the needs and justification for a new fire station, expansion and renovation of police and City administration.  A citizens' survey is available for you to complete to help the City Council gauge interest in a $7 million bond election proposal based on the recommendation of the City Council-appointed ad-hoc Capital Facilities Committee's work.  Their work resulted in a Needs Assessment Report.  See the Needs Assessment Report in the upper right hand corner of the City's website.  The lettering is in green.  This initiative is an outgrowth of the 2011 Town Hall Meeting.

On Monday, February 27th, the City Council, will consider calling a Special Bond Election, during a Special City Council Meeting at 7 p.m. at the City Council Chambers located at Leon Valley City Hall, 6400 El Verde Road.  In other City Council business, the City Council will consider ordering the General Election for the May 12, 2012 Uniform Election Date.  The City Council encourages your participation.
