Triune Mercy Center Newsletter April 2011 |
From the pastor:
At Triune, we know something about resurrection.
Little resurrections, we call the lives raised from the ashes of sexual abuse, drug addiction, alcoholism, unemployment, mental illness, physical disabilities.
Little resurrections, we call the paintings beside the pulpit, the hilarious fish swimming in the dining room "ocean," the songs of homeless men.
Little resurrections, we say of the men under a bridge in May and in apartments in August.
And so when our friends at Earle Street Baptist asked if we'd like to join them in an Easter sunrise service, we were eager to celebrate the big resurrection.
The service will be held in the Triune sanctuary at 6:30 AM Easter, April 24, because we are not brave enough to test the weather and a portable sound system outdoors. We will enter in candlelit darkness, hear some good music and a good word from Earle Street associate pastor Greg Dover, and emerge into the dawning day, flowers in hand to place upon the cross that will be seen by thousands on their way to work the next week.
We hope you will join us for this service designed to raise a hallejah to resurrections -- both great and small.

If you know anything about our art room, you know the creativity never ceases to flow. Hard on the heels of the fish project - which makes me laugh every time I see it - volunteers are publishing a book to showcase Triune writers.
Art room director Karen Lucci is looking for submissions from parishioners, volunteers or anyone else associated with Triune, and for volunteers to collect their original poems, short stories, memoirs, songs and tea party recipes. Each submission must be under 1,000 words, with a maximum of three submissions per person.
The library, directly across the hall from the art room, will be open for reading and writing when the art room is open -- Wednesday, 10 AM-noon, and Sunday, 1-3 PM.
If you want to become involved, contact Karen at klucci@gmail.com.
Blessings,
Deb Richardson-Moore deb@triunemercy.org |
