musingsMusings From Rabbi Taff

Last weekend Judge Richard Goldstone, the author of the United Nations Human Rights Council Goldstone Report following the War in Gaza, published an Op-Ed in the Washington Post.  I am attaching the article for your perusal and also a response by a law professor, Avi Bell.

Lastly, you will find a personal letter I emailed to Judge Goldstone, who currently is spending this semester as a visiting professor at Stanford University. As I read Mr. Goldstone's article last week, I found myself both happy and distressed. I was happy - or maybe relieved is a better word - that Israel has been at least partially been vindicated of unfair accusations. But I'm also distressed that a year and a half later, so much damage has been done to Israel's reputation. Goldstone's statements in his article have not received the same attention that the original report received in the media and public discussion.  Full article

momsdayMother's Day Flower Project

Mothers DayFor the 45,000 women and children who spend Mother's Day in a battered women's shelter, urgent concerns like housing, safety and employment make the holiday just another day to survive. That's why every spring JWI's Mother's Day Flower Project sends bouquets, beauty and stationary products, and an inspiring poster to 200 battered women's shelters across the U.S., while raising funds for initiatives that work every day to educate communities, empower women and break the cycle of abuse.

The Flower Project offers an ideal opportunity to honor the women you love by supporting women in need. For each donation of $25 or more, we send a beautiful Mother's Day card to an honoree - your mother, daughter, sister or friend - to let her know a donation was made in her name.

Forms are available in the foyer or you can go to www.jwi.org. Remember to put Mosaic Law Congregation under Partner Organization.
