Greetings!
Welcome to the 2010 school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer and you are ready for the new semester. This is the first edition of the Ed.D newsletter from SF State to members of the Ed.D Program community, the greater SFSU community, as well as friends and associates in the schools and community colleges in the Bay Area.
Our goal is to provide information about developments in the SFSU Educational Leadership Program, to share news about our students and faculty, and to generate and share ideas for building bridges with educational institutions and leadership in the region.
Sincerely, Robert
Gabriner, Director Ed.D Educational Leadership {Gabriner@sfsu.edu}

 | Orientation for Fourth Cohort Takes a New Form
|
We are excited to welcome our 2010 cohort into the program. This year will kick off with an intensive two-day Retreat in the quiet beauty of the Mercy Center in Burlingame, Ca.
The Orientation will consist of activities in which students learn about program milestones; doctoral culture in the Ed.D program; core themes of the program with specific attention to equity and structural inequality; conversations between current and new students; discussions with program faculty, as well as an introduction to first-year content courses and research seminars.
The Retreat will promote connections among the new student cohort, as well as link new and returning students.

Spotlight: Faculty Research Fund 2010
|
Members of the Ed.D. Faculty Group may be eligible for support from the Faculty Research Fund. This fund will promote faculty research on issues directly related to topics within the Educational Leadership program. Such topics include equity and structural inequality, instructional leadership and high-performing institutions. Members of the Ed.D. faculty group are eligible if they have taught and/or participated for three or more semesters in the Ed.D. program. The faculty member must develop a research project that is directly related to the themes and issues of the Ed.D. program. All requests for research funds are subject to review and approval by the Executive Committee. The number of grants each year will be set by the Executive Committee and announced at the beginning of the academic year. For more information about the Faculty Research Fund, please contact Dr. Robert Gabriner, Program Director at gabriner@sfsu.edu. |
