Hey there!
So, how's your head feeling this month?
You'll remember from last month's newsletter that April and May were basically one long migraine for me.
For those of you here in the Portland area, you have the chance to hear me speak in person! Check out the Practical Tips for Managing Your Energy article below. If you're not in Portland, this event will be recorded, so you'll still have the opportunity to get the scoop. =)
Enjoy some Hope & Healing this month!
PS... Think of one woman who told you recently, "Oh! My aching head!" and to her. She will definitely thank you for it, whether she has fibromyalgia or not!

Practical Tips for Managing Your Energy
 | Join me July 21st from 1-4 PM at the Portland Fibromyalgia - ME/CFS Group! |
When: Saturday, July 21, 2012, 1--4 PM Where: The Frida Center "The Studio", 6400 SW Canyon Court, Suite 100, Portland, OR
On July 21st, I will be the speaker at the fibromyalgia support group that I co-lead.
My focus will be on providing practical, everyday tips to help you better manage your energy and live AWAP (as well as possible) with fibromyalgia.
I will also share the tools that I used to manage my life, energy, time, and illness to help me overcome most of my fibromyalgia symptoms.
I will be teaching about how to incorporate periods of rest and activity, as well as how to learn your body's own rhythm and how best to work with it, instead of fighting against it.
We'll talk about scheduling, working effectively with your calendars, and how to protect your healing time. This means learning to say "no" when you need to and asking for help when the situation calls for it. I even have a special exercise to help you block out what a "perfect week" might look like!
The best part is that I will show you how to incorporate things you love to do back into your life!
I'll also be giving a 1-hour coaching session as a door prize! If you don't live here in the Portland area, I suggest that you join my support group online. It's free, and we record all of our events so that you won't miss anything by not being local--including this one!

On Headaches and Fibromyalgia: Part 2
Posted June 27, 2012
In case you missed Part 1 that comes before this, see below... This spring I was in the midst of a perfect storm of migraine triggers: a "silent" sinus infection, a neck injury, an undiagnosed sleep disorder, and more.
Hopefully, my suffering will help you with your headaches!

Celebration of Hope: Fibromyalgia Symptoms Improving
 | | Promise of Hope, by Wayne Bricco |
"Until you get your own hope, find some people who you can borrow theirs from.
~ Mary, Why Cherry Blossoms...?
This month's celebration is from Tammy, a client I started working with around Thanksgiving last year.
During Tammy's consultation, she told me of the extra weight she had gained due to a leg and back injury. Her leg had healed, but there was some question as to whether or not she would need back surgery.
Either way, losing some extra weight would take pressure off her spine and bring needed pain relief. The whole thing left her feeling a bit overwhelmed--which is why she called me.
Here's what Tammy said about her fibromyalgia symptoms (an extra bonus!) after making losing weight a priority this year:
Since I got serious about losing weight, I've lost 20 pounds* with [the nutritional program you recommended], yoga and a recumbent bike.
Yes, I have noticed my [fibromyalgia] symptoms improving and I have more energy as well. : ) I'm continuing to lose weight so I expect to continue to feel better. Thanks again. -- Tammy
Would you like YOUR fibromyalgia symptoms to improve?
You can have the same results that Tammy and others have seen; I can help. Schedule a time for us to chat. I guarantee it will be worth your time.
Wonder what we'll talk about? Story Sharing Chat & Consultation info is here.

Buying Organic... Does It Matter?
If you're like me, you want to eat as clean as possible, but you don't want to spend a fortune either.
The Clean 15 and Dirty Dozen Plus lists are here to save the day!
The Environmental Working Group ( www.ewg.org) creates these two lists each year. One list indicates which items are "dirty" (contaminated with pesticides) and should always be bought as organic. The other indicates which items are "clean" enough that you can buy them as non-organics--and save a bit of money.
This PDF Shopping Guide can be printed out and put in your purse or wallet so you have it handy for shopping. You could also do as I did and save the PDF to Evernote and have it handy on your smartphone for quick reference!

90% of Fibromyalgia Patients Say Weather Influences Their Symptoms
In 2002, a study was conducted in Cordoba, Argentina, where there are four distinct seasons every year.
The study involved fibromyalgia sufferers and a healthy control group and aimed to find out whether pain symptoms could be linked to specific weather changes.
Researchers found that pain symptoms of the participants with fibromyalgia correlated directly to weather changes. Specifically, pain increased as temperatures fell and atmospheric pressure increased.
The healthy control group did not show any correlation between pain and weather patterns.
