Hope & Healing e-Newsletter

Greetings!  Tami

Have you been feeling alone in your illness? Would you like to connect with other people who understand?

This month's newsletter has several ways for you to connect with other fibro babes who understand exactly how you feel! (Like me, who is getting this newsletter out a little late due to a fibro flare!) =)

There are also options to give you more education and help in living successfully with fibromyalgia and CFS.

First, check out the Upcoming Events section for events you can take part in -- from the comfort of your own home and pajamas!

Second, read this month's Celebration of Hope to see the results people have had with some of my workshops. You can build your confidence and make setting and achieving goals easier too!

Third, join the fibromyalgia support group I co-lead. It's open to anyone, anywhere!

Enjoy some Hope & Healing this month!

On the third Thursday of every month, I hold a special workshop: Gentle Goal Setting for Fibromyalgia & CFS.

This workshop is specifically designed to give you a more gentle way to accomplish things. A way to do things besides just "push, push, push" then "crash!"

Here's what people had to say about this class:

"This class was above and beyond what I expected. I just thought it would turn out to be like every other 'goal setting' session I have ever done - one that I can stick to and follow for a week, maybe a little longer, but in the end feel defeated.

"This planning was completely different - one that I can see myself sticking to since each goal is broken down into smart, obtainable steps meant for building confidence in accomplishing my bigger goals. Thank you, Tami!" - Missy Baxter

"I do a lot of goal setting in my business - and this class wasn't like any of the goal setting I've done before. This was a terrific workshop that really helped me focus on some goals that are very important to me."

- Julie Fugate

"I have to say that this class made setting some goals and achieving them a lot easier - knowing the steps to take to reach the goals I want to do in life. Thank you so much for the webinar, the help, and the tools for setting goals." - Lisa Patterson

Gentle Goal Setting for Fibromyalgia & CFS is a webinar that I offer on the third Thursday of every month.

You can learn how to set goals that you'll feel like you can actually accomplish - while feeling good about yourself in the process.

  • Create a vision of what your goal looks like
  • Gently take stock of where you are right now
  • Choose one goal to focus on and outline the baby steps to reach it
  • Create a plan of action that will help to pull you towards your goal
  • Receive personal guidance
  • Leave with a personalized plan, and the knowledge you can use this process on any goal you want to reach.

Fibromyalgia and Your Thyroid
Posted February 13, 2012
Thyroid and Thorax OrgansTreating your thyroid could improve your fibromyalgia symptoms.

As I work with my clients, I find that they often have undiagnosed thyroid issues. The most common thing I recommend in a consultation with someone is that they get a full thyroid panel done by a good doctor who understands thyroid disease. Why?

So many symptoms of thyroid disease look like fibromyalgia symptoms. In addition, thyroid issues can amplify your fibromyalgia symptoms making them worse than they would be if your thyroid was functioning properly.

This article covers the common symptoms of low thyroid, the three main challenges fibromites face in getting thyroid issues diagnosed, and what to do after you get your thyroid disease diagnosed.

Learn to Live Fibro Smart!

This will be a short tip on my end, because basically, I want you to read a blog post from a friend of mine.

When we're diagnosed with fibromyalgia, we have to learn to do things differently. Sometimes we want to kick and scream about how that's just not fair, but it's just how it is, folks. It's not good or bad - it just is.

This post is one of the best ways I've seen about explaining how it's not a bad thing. It's actually FIBRO SMART. I love it!

If you want help in learning what it means for YOU to be fibro smart, let's talk! That's exactly what I do as a Fibro Coach.

Fibro Facts

I recently attended the Body Worlds exhibit at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). WOW. It closed on March 4th and it was something that you had to see to imagine.

But here's an interesting tidbit I picked up:

"Long-term memories use two neurotransmitters, epinephrine and norepinephrine, released during emotional stress."

I found this particularly interesting because these two neurotransmitters are some that we fibro folk tend to be low in.

No wonder we have trouble with brain fog!

Scott said it wasn't really long-term memories we were having trouble accessing, but I think it is. When we can't think of a word, those are long, long-term memories, not short-term, "what did I do yesterday" type of memories.

Other symptoms of low epinephrine and norepinephrine:

  • Fatigue
  • Lack of focus
  • Difficulty losing weight
  • Lack of energy
  • Lack of motivation
  • Depression

Sound familiar to anyone?
