Upcoming Sunday pictureUpcoming Worship Services!

Sunday, November 20,  9 & 11 a.m.

Multigenerational Service "Setting the Table" Rev. Roberta and Director of Religious Education Martha Dallas will co-lead this service. We will literally set a table in the sanctuary with beloved table cloths, dishes, and other objects from your homes.  Don't forget to bring your JUMP Bags!  And if you are able, please come early and offer to help carry JUMP bags in for people who are unable to do so.

Wednesday, November 23, Music Meditation 5 p.m., Service  5:30 - 6 p.m.

Today's service will be led by Dian Mueller and the theme is "Giving Thanks" -- a thoughtful beginning to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. See you there!

Sunday, November 27, 9 & 11 a.m.

"Equal Marriage - the Right to Marry Whom You Love" Charlie Clements will explore why some rights are protected by the Constitution and others like 'equal' or same-gender marriage are subjected to plebiscite. He will explore 'equal marriage' in the context of other rights such as to serve in the military, visit your loved one in an ICU, or inherit property from your partner for life. Though same-gender couple may marry in Vermont today, there are still 44 other states in which this right is not recognized.

The Annual Holiday Bazaar is on Saturday December 3 from 9 am - 2 pm. We'll have many of the "old" traditions such as fragrant greens, a delicious luncheon, attic treasures, books and toys from the sixth graders. "New" this year will be a hospitality room downstairs, so you can buy your holiday treats and sit down with a cup of tea to enjoy them. It will give you a boost of energy to shop more! We look forward to seeing you there. Interested in helping? Contact Carol at carolczina@burlingtontelecom.net or 864-0242.

Welcoming a Guest at Your Table Each year at this time, friends and families in our congregation participate in Guest at Your Table - a UU tradition for decades. By bringing home a beautiful Guest at Your Table box and a Stories of Hope booklet, families and individuals learn about how the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee puts our shared values into action in the United States and around the world. Through a potent combination of advocacy, education, and partnerships with grassroots human-rights leaders, UUSC promotes economic rights, advances environmental justice, defends civil liberties, and preserves the rights of people in times of humanitarian crisis.

Through the Stories of Hope booklet, we connect with people throughout the world who have shared their personal struggles and are working hard for human rights in partnership with UUSC. In each household, the Guest at Your Table box is placed in a prominent spot, often at the family dinner table. When family and friends gather to enjoy their blessings, they can reflect on the contributions of their "guests" to the movement for universal human rights - and share generously. Each week, we can choose a different story to read, bringing our guests to life and helping celebrate our own rights.

Sharing our blessings through Guest at Your Table ensures that UUSC's human-rights work continues. Please consider making a contribution that meets membership levels. Since UUSC is an independent organization that receives no funding from government or the UUA, your support and membership are vitally important.

If you would prefer not to bring home a box, you can take a donation envelope or support UUSC directly online at www.uusc.org/givetoguest.  We will open our Guest at Your Table program with an intergenerational worship celebration this Sunday, November 20th, at 9:00 and 11:00 AM.

UUs and children with special needs & challenges
Embracing the Spirit of the Child is a wonderful website by Sally Patton, a leader in this field. I like the blog and there are also other resources for UU families and communities. - Martha Dallas

Winter Solstice Celebration

Have you considered incorporating an earth centered celebration into your winter holidays? Celebrate the turning of the earth and moving from dark to light at a special new event. On Wednesday, Dec 21. from 5:30-6:30, in our sanctuary, Bridget Meyer will lead a Winter Solstice service to honor the longest night of the year. If you'd like to participate please get in touch with Bridget by calling 879-5409 or email bmeyer1038@aol.com.  Look forward to a short solstice play for children (10 child actors needed!), seasonal readings and music!

Have you written something appropriate to the season? Do you have a favorite winter or dark to light poem or reading you'd like to share? Don't be shy. It's going to be fun!

Come In We're Open

Office Hours!

We will be open Monday &  Tuesday, November 21st & 22nd from 9 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  If you come during these hours and the door is locked, please ring the doorbell!

We will be closed Wednesday & Thursday, November 23rd & 24th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

 Lasagna Supper
Tie a string around your finger, ink it into your date book, or enter it into your Blackberry, but however you do it, make a note of the First Night Lasagna Dinner and plan to volunteer to help. This supper has been a primary source for funds for the Social Action Committee for several years . We need people to make lasagnas, to serve hungry families who come from First night activities, and to clean up afterwards.  Watch for sign-up sheets on the Social Action bulletin board and plan to help.  It's actually a lot of fun!

6:00 pm Saturday - noon Sunday Focus:  fun, Fun, FUN!!!!!!

Our first Overnight of the year!!  There will be fun, games, making our own dinner (nice suggestion!), more fun, maybe some sleep, and then walking to breakfast somewhere close.  We also decided at last week's meeting to put up the Giving Tree so it's ready for service on the 4th.  I will have permission slips for you at this Sunday (Nov. 20th).

 Movies
Movie Night Hosted By Interweave Monday the 21st of November!

Come join Interweave, the GLTBQA social group, for a showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on Monday the 21st starting at 6:15 pm till 8 pm at the Meeting House.  Interweave is open to anyone who would like to come and this event is family friendly.  Snacks will be provided however contributions and donations are always welcomed.

Volunteer Opportunities!!!Let me do it

We need people who can carry bags!  Is that you?  Many of our members, for whatever reason, are unable to carry those very heavy JUMP Bags from their car into the Sanctuary.  It would be wonderful if several people could hang out in the parking lot on Sunday morning before the service(s) to offer a helping hand.

If you would like to help, there is no one to call, no forms to complete, no scheduling to work out, just show up 10 - 15 minutes earlier than usual on Sunday morning.  Once you're here, just stand in the parking lot and offer help when needed!

Thank you!

Please Take Note!!!Important Date

Next week's Enews Blast will be sent on Tuesday, November 22nd.  If you have items for the Enews Blast, please send them to enewsblast@uusociety.org no later than Noon on November 22nd.
