REFLECTIONS OF 2010 SUNNYLAND ANTIQUE BOAT FESTIVAL
I am just flying home from the Sunnyland Antique Boat
Festival and reflecting on all that has gone on over the last 4 days. First I
would like to congratulate Terry Fiest, this year's director, and all of the
volunteers of the Sunnyland Chapter for again hosting a wonderful Wood Boat
Show. It takes a lot of work to get the show together and these volunteers
can't be thanked enough for all they do.
It was a little windy Thursday while launching the boats and
Sunday while retrieving, but otherwise the weather was perfect, high 70's and
low 80's every day. There were hundreds of boats at this year's event - from Gar
Woods, Chris Crafts, Century Boats, Jersey Skiffs, Amphicars, Outboard Race
Boats, Antique Outboard Club Motors, and much more. There was definitely something for
everyone.
There was a strong presence from the Century Boat Club as
Century Boats were featured in this year's show. They had an excellent show
of over 20 boats at the Thursday night Century Boat Reception sponsored by
Hagerty Insurance.
Overall, the show, like always was very exciting with many
boats to see. It is also good to see friends and customers who have been cooped
up this winter like myself. I look forward to seeing them at other shows this
summer. If you have not been to the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival in the
past, you should definitely make plans to attend next year. It's a show you
don't want to miss.
We will also be displaying at the Keels and Wheels Show in
Houston April 30th and May 1st. If you are planning to be
there, please stop by and say hello!
