Bicycling Social

BRAG riders and their guests have been invited to join with the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign at a social gathering Wednesday, April 7, 2010, from 5 pm till 9 pm.  The place is Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, 848 Peachtree St., NE, Atlanta, 30308.  This is a great chance to meet friends, old and new, off the bicycle, and talk about all the rides you are planning this Spring and Summer.  What a great way to celebrate cycling in the Springtime!  Southern Bicycle League members and guests are also invited.  ABC will have a short program to discuss the Atlanta Streets Alive Ride, scheduled for Sunday May 23, from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Spring Tune-Up Ride 2010

James Madison Inn
There is still time to register for the Spring Tune-Up Ride, April 16-18, 2010, in Madison, GA.  You can register through Active.com through April 12, or download a registration form from www.brag.org and mail it or bring it with you to Madison.  The late fee is in effect.

This is a great opportunity to get some mileage under your belt before the weeklong BRAG ride June 5-12.  Various mileage each day.  Entertainment Friday night with free adult beverages and a DJ.  Saturday night you can join in the fun playing Bingo at HQ while listening to your favorite tunes.

Tri Your Best
Tri Your Best, a bicycle shop in Stone Mountain, will be providing technical support all weekend.  Jim Harris, with Bike Tour Photo, will be at the ride taking photos throughout the weekend, so don't forget to smile when you pass him.

PATH Clean-Up Day

Tommy Lupo, a BRAG rider, is organizing a PATH Clean-up Day, Saturday, April 24, 2010, from 9am - Noon for the Atlanta-Stone Mountain PATH.  He would like to see groups working in their own areas of the city, so here is what he needs:

1. Group Leaders- These people will act as the points of contact for the various sections where the PATH is located.  The Group Leaders will:
  • Set the local meeting spot (a park, parking lot, or other location near a section of the PATH where people can gather).
  • Coordinate the gathering of needed materials (garbage bags, recycling bags, shovels, brooms, etc.) from volunteers, if possible.
  • Greet the participants as they arrive at the local meeting points.
  • Assign volunteers to the section of PATH to be cleaned.
  • Find a location in the area for the pick-up of the garbage, recycling, etc.
  • Decide on a place to meet for lunch or social after the event, if the participants would like to do so. Several groups could meet at the same spot, if viable.
2. Volunteers- Volunteers can call or email Tommy Lupo at (404)317-0289 or wolf1069@aol.com and he will connect them to Group Leaders in their areas.
