Online Mapping Site to offer Market Analysis Tool

The current economic climate suggests all businesses understand drive timeeach nuance of local markets. An understanding of local shifts in demography and market characteristics is essential not only for the start-up business, but to sustain an existing business in today's economy. BCDCOG is assisting the Charleston Regional Development Alliance (CRDA), an economic development agency covering Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties, with an industry-standard market analysis tool. CRDA's mission is to recruit new businesses to the region. To fulfill that mission, it offers site search capabilities to prospective clients with an online interactive mapping application. The online mapping tool enhances analysis and reporting functionalities by adding access to the latest demography and market data. One major feature this tool offers is the ability to create demographic reports for specific market areas (see example graphic above). Reports can be formatted for areas derived within a radius distance or drive-time for: 2010 and 2015 demographics, 2010 consumer spending, 2010 market potential, 2010 tapestry market segmentation, business data, traffic counts, 1990/2000 census demographics. The market analysis tool is expected to be available on-line in the next few weeks. Contact Senior GIS Planner, Harun Rashid for more information.
