Donating to the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre
The Arts Centre receives support from the community in many ways.
The general populatuion support the Arts Centre via Muswellbrook Shire Council who own and operate the Centre as a service of Council provided to not just the Muswellbrook community but to both Singleton and Upper Hunter Shires as well as visitors to our Region.
Our Arts Centre Volunteers give their time freely to assist the Council staff with the many activities that take place; in fact, the Arts Centre couldn't offer the range of services that it does without them.
Local businesses, industry and community groups as well as individuals sponsor a range of prizes which the Arts Centre conducts throughout the yearly program of exhibitions. These include the Bengalla Mining Company Pty. Limited with the Muswellbrook Art Prize; Muswellbrook & Districts Camera Club and Coal & Allied with the Muswellbrook Photographic Award. Our opening nights are currently sponsored by Stone Hill Vineyard at Merriwa and Cruickshank Callatoota Estate at Denman.

Muswellbrook Shire Art Collection
Direct donations to the Centre can take a number of forms and may include the donation of art works to the Muswellbrook Shire Art Collection either as an outright donation or as a donation under the Commonwealth Government's Cultural Gifts Program which allows the donor to claim the value of the gift against their tax. Works being donated to the Muswellbrook Shire Art Collection need to fall within the collecting period of the Centre: Australian contemporary art from c.1950 to the present day (including local Upper Hunter Regional artists). The Arts Centre is always happy to consider any work from this period for inclusion in the Collection.
Other direct donations can include art books, catalogues and related ephemera for our Research Library or artist's archives and/or money. Any donation of $2.00 or more is tax deductible for the donor (don't forget to request a receipt). The Arts Centre also accepts bequests either open or targeted. Both the Viola Bromley Bequest and the Estate of Esther Bellis are utilized in the conducting of the Muswellbrook Local Art Awards. In general though, donated funds are used to finance the purchase of further additions to the Collection.
Recently donated to the Muswellbrook Shire Art Collection by Ian McNeill is the work The Angry Tuffetts Pallet by Dale Frank. Ian made this donation because of Dale Frank's connections to the Upper Hunter Region and to assist the Arts Centre to consolidate its Dale Frank holdings. The work now joins another painting and a work on paper by Dale Frank at the Arts Centre.
