| Hanna Kay exhibition
Weightlessness - Paintings 2004 to 2010 Opening 6.00pm Saturday 24 April 2010 Special guest speaker Sandra McMahon, Director of Tamworth Regional Gallery
This survey of Hanna Kay's work from the past six years reveals not only one of Australia's most brilliant technicians but also a sensitive, thoughtful and original approach to the landscape. It has been six years since Hanna Kay last exhibited at the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre and in that time her work has gone from strength to strength. Hanna has furthered her career with wins in both the Muswellbrook Open Art Prize and the Norville Prize for Landscape Painting, along with major exhibitions in Sydney and Melbourne and the publication of her book 'Notes From The Shed - A Journal' by Macmillan Art Publishing.
Locally Hanna is well known for her environmental and educational work in the Upper Hunter, in particular with the 'Turning the Pages' Project at Murrurundi and it is her concern for the environment that shows in her work and which connects her paintings with so many people at an emotional level that few other painters achieve.
Exhibition dates 25th April - 6th June 2010 |

| Worlds Apart - International photographers Gutt, McIntosh and Perrin. |
Opening 6.00pm Saturday 24 April 2010
"Looking at the world from a different point of view to find something new inside the old. Whichever material enables me to shoot a reflection of what we call reality is a tool I use to create an alienated portrayal. Knowing it's still the same world and being a part of it, is the best substantiation of freeing my own dreams. Showing this is like a key I found to open up a locked maze inside my head. It's more than another point of view it's a way of talking - it's uncommon communication." - Carolin Gutt, Dresden, Germany
"For the life of me I cannot look through a lens and see leading lines and primary forms. Having nothing visually to say I am trying to take myself out of the compositional process to let the landscape speak for itself." - Ian McIntosh, Dunedin, New Zealand
"My work over the last fifteen years has taken the form of long term projects, manifesting themselves in film, composed of multiple still images, some works comprising many hundreds of images shot over a number of years. The first of these projects to see the light of day is 'halflight', a series of landscape images taken in the Donegal region of Ireland." - Geoffrey Perrin, Dublin, Ireland
Exhibition dates 25th April - 6th June 2010 in the Wollemi Gallery |
