Newcastle Knights promoting Junior Rugby League in Muswellbrook
The Knights will be in Muswellbrook Shire later this week running coaching clinics at local primary schools and attending functions to raise interest in Junior Rugby League.
A dinner function is being held at Muswellbrook Golf Club this Friday from 6.30pm and on Saturday morning locals are invited to watch the Knights train at Olympic Park, Muswellbrook.

Roadworks planned for February
Every month a Council roadworks schedule is implemented. Here are the proposed roadworks for this month.
- Construction of bridge approaches at Widden Brook, Bylong Valley Way.
- Maintenance grading of Burtons Lane, Dry Creek Road, Kinkoona Access Road, Powers Road, Giants Creek Road, Stairs Road, Diamond Ridge Road and Bell Street in Denman.
- Kerb and gutter repair at nominated sections of Thomas Mitchell Drive, Muswellbrook; Paxton Street, Denman and Adams Street, Muswellbrook.

Free workshop for parents of learner drivers
Muswellbrook Workers Club, Wednesday 24 February 2010 6.00-8.00pm.
Young drivers are three times more likely to be involved in casualty crashes. That's why the RTA has introduced a new licensing scheme, with more supervised driving practice for learner drivers.
To help parents in supervising learner drivers, the RTA has set up a FREE 2 hour workshop for parents in Muswellbrook offering practical advice on how to help learner drivers become safer drivers.

$10,000 grant available to promote agricultural diversification in the Upper Hunter
Successful diversification makes the farming community and farming families more sustainable and profitable economically and ecologically.
The "Crops for Hunter" Hunter Farm Diversification Scheme funds projects that have the potential to either:
- Assist in further development of an innovative farming idea, product or process
- Increase diversification of agricultural enterprises in the region
- Develop new markets for local products or give local producers an edge in the marketplace
- Demonstrate new methods of production or management
- Increase industry wide adoption of beneficial key research findings
- Increase whole property and local industry sustainability and profitability
Applicants may present a proposal that is already fully developed, or may seek funds for studies to determine the feasibility of a worthwhile idea.
