Dear Friend of FLD,
So much for the slow season here in the Finger Lakes. With our expansion, new product initiatives and some steady traffic, we've hardly had a chance to take a breather. But we're ok with that. If you visited us this past weekend, you most certainly saw a new product gracing our shelves. White Pike Whiskey is here! We've collaborated with an incredible company - Mother Industries - to bring you this exceptionally smooth and mixable white whiskey. Read more here. There's so much going on over the next couple of months. We'll be pouring some spirits at Stella's tonight and will be holding another fabulous spirits dinner at the Statler Hotel on Friday. Check out all our upcoming events on the sidebar and join us on Facebook for any updates. If you're looking for a unique tipple for St. Patty's, please consider our McKenzie Pure Pot Still. It's as smooth as most Irish whiskies, but has a lot more flavor. We like to enjoy it like this. Looks like we've got some more great weather in the immediate future. Take advantage of it and plan a trip out to see us. All the best, Brian McKenzie President, Finger Lakes Distilling

A Rebel is Born
White Pike is here. Come try our new whiskey.
A refined spirit made of our signature recipe of corn, spelt and malted wheat, White Pike has a smooth stand-alone flavor that mixes in ways brown whiskey's won't.
Nose: Smells like a breeze running through a ripe cornfield at dusk
Taste: Hints of fresh buttered toast, rich and smooth in the middle.
Finish: Clean & integrated.
White Pike gives cocktails more backbone. Glass, flask or straight from the bottle, drink it wherever, whatever.
Drop by the Distillery for a taste, bottle, or both.
For those of you that can't make it to FLD, find White Pike at a number of fine establishments in NYC or through the following online retailers:

The fermentation situation
Our new fermenters arrived last month and are already getting a steady diet of whiskey mash. We've hardpiped everything from our mash kettle, to the new fermeters, to the still. It feels like a whole new operation, but all the changes have helped boost production which will eventually bring you more whiskey. Hope you're cool with that.
(4) new 1,000 gallon fermenters now in place with catwalkThomas Earl proudly looks on as the first whiskey mash begins to fill Fermenter #1

Job Postings
We mentioned in last month's newsletter that we'll be looking for help in the tasting room over the next couple of months. We're just starting the interview process, so please contact us if you have any interest in pouring delicious local spirits for interesting people visiting our area.
We're also searching for a full-time Retail/Marketing Manager for Finger Lakes Distilling. Ideally, this employee would help manage our shop and take the lead on several marketing initiatives related to event planning, advertising, and social media. For a full job posting click here.
Our Buildings & Grounds position has not been filled yet, either. Please reach out if you have 20-30 hours a week to help maintain our 7 acre property. We're looking for a meticulous person that likes to work hard.
Please contact us if you are interested in any of these opportunities.

In case you missed it...
FLD continues to get some great mentions in the local and national media. This month kicked off with a great article in the NY Post about the renewed popularity of gin.
Imbibe magazine's February issue featured all things NY and had a big article on the booming craft distilling industry in our state. Pick up a copy at the distillery, if you haven't already seen it.
Vertical, a Southern men's magazine, gave a shout out to our Glen Thunder Corn Whiskey. On the other end of the spectrum, our McKenzie Bourbon appeared in a fashion blog, Champagne and Heels. Those of you who know Thomas realize he is well connected with the high fashion crowd!
The Hooch Life, a new online spirits site, is making their way through our line-up and has posted recently about our Bourbon, Corn Whiskey and Gin.
Read a recent review on our McKenzie Pure Pot Still whiskey here that appeared in the Cornell Daily Sun. If that doesn't convince you to pick up a bottle for St. Patty's, we don't know what will.
Our friends at Hearth in NYC are taking their whole cocktail menu local, which means lots of tasty cocktails using FLD spirits.
Finally, we're starting to get some momentum behind HR 777, a bill that would reduce the federal excise taxes imposed on small distillers. Brian was interviewed by both the Democrat and Chronicle and Wham 13 in Rochester in the last couple of weeks.

Creative Cocktails
We're pretty ecstatic to have something as versatile as White Pike to play with in cocktails (as are many mixologists in NY). Check out a number of great cocktails here. This was one of our favorites.
Blood Brother
1 oz. White Pike Whiskey
1 oz. FLD Cherry Liqueur
0.5 oz. Sweet Vermouth
0.5 oz. Orange Juice
Combine all ingredients and shake over ice. Strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with orange peel and maraschino cherries.
MCBOILERMAKER We're always getting requests for a great St. Patty's cocktail. Well, without further ado, here is our recommendation. Just enjoy some good Irish beer and sip on our fine Irish style whiskey. 1 pint of your favorite Irish beer 1 oz. McKenzie Pure Pot Still Whiskey Enjoy responsibly!
Please send us your ideas for cocktails using our products. With your permission, we may feature your cocktail in a future newsletter. If selected, we'll send you an FLD hat or T-shirt.
