Dear Friend of FLD,
What a beautiful Memorial weekend in the Finger Lakes. Unlike the first few weeks of May, we finally enjoyed some sunshine and 90 degree weather. Thanks to all of you that visited the distillery over your holiday, both return visitors and first timers. While you were out on the wine trail, you may have seen the most recent issue of Edible Finger Lakes. In this special edition, The Wine Issue, you will see a section titled "Portraits of an Industry". Pick up an issue and familiarize yourself with some of the people behind the food, wine, art, and spirits that are made locally- including "The Wonder Boys". Yes, you read the name right.
In addition to all the regular distillery activity, June will be very hectic with a number of tastings and events going on all over the state. Check out our Upcoming Tastings section for events near you. Hope to see you at the distillery soon!

2nd Annual Bourbon & Derby
Party Recap
It turned out to be a beautiful night at FLD for our 2nd annual Bourbon and Derby Party. Everyone looked terrific in their Derby attire- thankfully we didn't have to witness Thomas in tight, white jockey pants again!

We all enjoyed tasty appetizers, BBQ and cocktails prepared by the Stonecat Cafe while dancing on the deck to music by the Djug Django Trio. New this year, local chocolatier (Christian Thirion) provided a tasting of artisinal chocolates made with our spirits. The evening finished with Bourbon Bars provided by Poppleton's Pasteries which are now available in our tasting room for purchase.
Again, thank you for choosing to celebrate with us.

Whiskey Barrel Sauerkraut
You've probably tried the amazingly flavorful Whiskey Sour Pickles that we sell at the Distillery. Now it's time to try the newest addition from Brooklyn Brine.....

Brooklyn Brine ferments hand cut cabbage with lemons and spices in Finger Lakes Distilling oak whiskey barrels. This crisp and crunchy sauerkraut has a unique herbal blend that is "barrel aged for awesome flavor". Add this new delicacy to your next summer BBQ or picnic.
We retail this in the gift shop for $9.

Employee Promotion
It is likely that when you visit our tasting room, you have had contact with one of our most valued employees, Glenn Grottenthaler.
Glenn has been a fixture at our tasting bar since our opening in July 2009. He has developed great knowledge about our product line and understands the workings of our tasting room as well as anyone. Glenn is assuming the role of "Tasting Room Captain" - we thought that title was appropriate since we're looking for him to help lead our tasting room team and given his history with sports and coaching.
Please join us in congratulating Glenn with his recent promotion when you visit the distillery.

In case you missed it....
On May 16th, Alexis Kahn poured FLD spirits at the Indy Spirits Expo, part of the Manhattan Cocktail Classic. The Expo features micro-distilled spirits from across the country.

The Distilled Spirits Council met on Capital Hill for the 2nd Annual Congressional Spirits Festival. Brian had time to share his thoughts with Congressman Tom Reed.
If you are flying AirTran Airways anytime soon, you will see us mentioned in the in flight magazine. This article discusses the rise of small distilleries and the relationship of distillers with local farmers. This poor travel blogger returned home to Seattle to discover that her Seneca Drum's Gin did not survive the trek. You can read about her visit to the distillery and the happy ending.
