Dear Friend of FLD, Many thanks to everyone who stopped by on Derby Day to try the newly released McKenzie Bourbon whiskey! The distillery was packed all day and we had a full house for our Kentucky Derby Party in the evening. Those that attended enjoyed an exciting (and sloppy) race, some delicious bourbon cocktails, and a pretty amazing sight - Thomas Earl in a jockey outfit. I joined him with some silks of my own (pics below).
Our visitors seemed to take a real interest in how McKenzie Bourbon is produced, so we were happy to walk them through the process. Whole grains were on display for everyone to see the high quality raw ingredients that we use. There were also a few batches of mash fermenting and bubbling away. Lastly, we brought out a sample of our bourbon before it goes in the barrel, known as "White Dog" in the whiskey business. ( McKenzie Bourbon mash (L) ; 130-proof McKenzie Bourbon White Dog (R)) For those that didn't make it out to the distillery this past week, we still have Bourbon available, but probably not for much longer. Make sure you plan a visit to see us soon, because Batch #2 won't be available until later this year.
Please read on to learn about our latest product releases, upcoming events, and some delicious cocktail recipes.
Sincerely,
Brian McKenzie President, Finger Lakes Distilling

FLD Fruit Brandies to Debut this Weekend
We're
set to launch a new set of products this weekend, including Pear
Brandy and Black Currant Brandy. Both are 90 proof, made with local
fruit, and come in 375 ml bottles for $24. Very popular in Europe, fruit
brandies (often called Eau de Vie or Schnapps) are also starting to get
some attention here is the States. Although they are delightful to sip
on by themselves, many mixologists are starting to play with some
interesting recipes. Check out our cocktail section below for some fun
cocktails using the two brandies.
FLD Pear Brandy will also be available for wholesale orders, so check with your local retailer for availability.

Join Us
for the Micro Spirits Odyssey at the Manhattan Cocktail Classic
We're excited to be heading down to NYC this weekend for the Manhattan Cocktail Classic. The festivities kick off with a gala event scheduled for this Friday at the New York Public Library.
On Sunday from 1-9 pm, we're setting up at the Micro Spirits Odyssey which is designed to showcase the craft spirits industry. We'll be joining a few of our friends from the NY Craft Distillers' Guild for a seminar at 5 pm discussing the value-added benefits distilling offers to local farms. The afternoon also features delicious cocktails created by Hush
Cocktails and gourmet culinary pairings by event host, Butter Restaurant NYC. Tickets can be
purchased here.
