And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own; And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known. (Charles Austin Miles, 1913)
Dear Parents,
As you may have read in the Georgia Bulletin the Archdiocese of Atlanta Office of Catholic Schools plans to seek district-wide accreditation for its 18 Catholic schools. Accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools, and designed primarily to distinguish schools adhering to a set of educational standards. This process drives continuous improvement in each of the schools in the Archdiocesan Catholic School System.
When the process of self-evaluation is completed a visiting team from AdvancEd will meet with members of the Chancery including the Archbishop, Superintendent and other members of the Office of Catholic Schools. In addition they will also visit several of the school systems' Catholic schools. It will be an exciting time for this Archdiocese because a district accreditation brings national attention and accreditation to the excellence that our Catholic schools provide for our students. Please read more about this exciting venture from the article.
The district accreditation coincides with our school accreditation renewal. We have a dual accreditation with SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) and SAIS (Southern Association of Independent Schools). The SACS accreditation will fall under the umbrella of AdvancEd, so when the Archdiocese receives its district accreditation in the spring of 2013, our school's accreditation with SACS will automatically be renewed. Our accreditation with SAIS will require a separate visit from their committee, but we will be able to use the same strategic plan that we used for AdvancEd, as each school must have their own strategic plan in place.
Our feasibility meetings have gone very well and the Advisory Council has compiled quite a few notes about each of the companies we have interviewed. We will meet this week to review what we have learned and to make a selection. As soon as we have our next steps in the in place I will share them with all of you.
Have a wonderful week and stay warm!
Blessings,
Kathy Wood
Principal
